You can lead a horse to Water....

We all know the saying.  There's really no way to save money on water - yep, that's a misconception.
Ever seen an automatic waterer?  How about a fancy two tone, collapsible, reversible, hose attached, almost fills itself bucket? We haven't either, but you get the point. As consumers we make water expensive.

Here's a few ways to bring the cost of water down:
~ Have a clean 5 gallon bucket around the farm from a supplement or something of the like? Use that as your new water bucket.  Compare the cost of around $20 for a flatback bucket to the $50 you already spent for the supplement. Savings: $20.00

~Travel Smart.  I've seen this at horseshows.... bottled water for the picky drinker. Really? A 5 gal container of Spring water will cost between $14-$17 a container. Now think of how long that 5 gallons will last a 1200 lb. animal. Ouch! Here's the Solution: get a container for hauling water from the camping department in your local Wal-mart ($12). Fill it with water before you leave the farm. This is great for day trips or a quick run to a local show.
Solution #2: Powdered Gatorade mix ($4) Mix this in the horse's water a few days prior to travel, then when you reach your destination.  The flavor will help mask the taste of the water should you be using water at a different location for several days.
Total Savings: Over $20.00

Think simple when you think water and you will save yourself several Dollars.
